Ask a Spaniard what he loves about Spain and he might not stop talking. From flamenco dancing to bull fighting, traditions in Spain give the country a lively country and entertaining reputation. As one of the many European countries famous for its cuisine, Spain has food that is known for being on the cutting edge. Still, old favorites like paella, gazpacho, and empanadas were created and perfected in the country. Spain is deeply rooted in tradition with each town having its own fiestas and celebrations such as the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona which has been going on for hundreds of years.
Spain makes a perfect place for travel and study because some of the world’s best universities are located in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid. Famous artists such as Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali all came from Spain. They are examples of why art and self expression are important to the Spanish people. Every day life in Spain is much slower and more relaxed than the rest of Europe. Spaniards have siestas mid-day where shops and cafes close for hours at a time so that people may socialize and enjoy the outdoors.
