Chinese Language Teachers Association of Florida Annual Conference

CLAT-FL’s second annual conference will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2008, in Miami, at Florida International University’s Graham Center.

The Registration will start at 9:30am and the conference is to end around 4:00pm. Lunch is provided during the conference.

Programs will cover new information and updates that include a lecture by Dr. Tseng, a professor from University of Virginia and a College Board recommended scholar, on newest information on AP Chinese and teaching method; A state Rep’s speech on a bill that will speed up Chinese language teacher’s certification process; seasoned teachers’ presentations; general vote for additional board of directors; and member discussions. In addition, three Chinese book publishers will be displaying their publications at the conference. A training certificate will be awarded to each attendee at the end of the conference.

The cost for the conference for nonmembers is 12 dollars at door, which covers the whole day meeting, conference materials, refreshments and lunch. It is free for members who pay 2008 membership from now to Dec 14th, 2007, as the pre-registration for the conference. The membership rate will be 12 dollars in 2008, which covers two annual conferences and all other activities.

Membership fee for teachers from three Contemporary Chinese School of South Florida is either covered or will be reimbursed by the school. Every one from Chinese community, who is interested in promoting Chinese language teaching and Chinese culture, is welcome to attend.
